Curriculum Intent

Bedale High School is a community school based in the rural town of Bedale in North Yorkshire. Whilst our school may be small, our curriculum is bold and ambitious, far exceeding what might be expected from a school of our size. Through our curriculum, our goal is for all students to develop the skills, knowledge, and experiences to go on and achieve their dreams, whatever they may be. At Bedale High School, we seek to ensure that our curriculum delivers on the following:

Underpinning the delivery of the curriculum is our Positive Behaviour (PB) policy. Without PB, students would not benefit from disruption free classrooms where praise is at the heart of our work. We aspire to create self-regulated learners who understand that the learning of new knowledge and skills is key to their future success.

Our Core Values of Courage, Commitment and Compassion are woven throughout our curriculum.

Students and staff across the school seek to demonstrate our core values through their actions in lessons and around school. We are a community that places compassion and kindness at the heart of everything that we do.

The Key Stage 3 Curriculum at Bedale High School is rich and extremely diverse. Students are exposed to the full range of subjects with an intention for students to explore a range of disciplines and find their passion ahead of choosing GCSE options at the end of year 9.
