Shannon Bradbury

After completing a degree in Biology at the University of York, with a particular focus on genetics, Shannon developed her leadership experience while working for Stonegate alongside her studies and following graduation. Her passion for working with young people led her to pursue a career in education, completing her PGCE at the University of York in 2017, with her teacher training based at Archbishop Holgate’s School.

Following her PGCE, Shannon secured her first teaching position at Bedale High School, returning to the school she had attended as a pupil. As a former student, she is particularly proud to now work within and contribute to the community that supported her own education. As a science teacher, Shannon has taught across the curriculum, including GCSE Combined Science and Triple Science, with Biology as her specialist subject.

During her time at Bedale, Shannon progressed to the role of Head of Key Stage 3, where she developed a particular interest in supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing, undertaking further training and professional development in this area. She subsequently completed the National Professional Qualification in Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC), before progressing to the role of Assistant Headteacher and SENDCO.

Alongside her leadership responsibilities, Shannon is also proud to lead the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Bedale, giving students opportunities to develop their confidence, independence, resilience and teamwork beyond the classroom.

More recently, Shannon has completed the National Professional Qualification for SENDCOs (NPQ SENCO), further developing her expertise in leading inclusive practice and provision for pupils with additional needs.
Shannon is passionate about inclusion and creating opportunities for all young people. She is committed to removing barriers to learning, ensuring that every pupil feels valued and supported, and creating an environment in which all students, regardless of their starting point or individual needs, have the opportunity to thrive.
