Excellence for all
At Bedale High School, we have high expectations of all students because we care passionately about enabling each and every one of them to succeed. Our code of conduct, therefore, is based on the following clear and consistent values:
Our ethos, or what we talk of in school as “doing things the Bedale way”, is based around these values and our expectation that all staff and students play a full and active role within the school. For students, there is the expectation that they will participate in as many of our extra-curricular activities as possible and take advantage of the various trips and visits that we organise, including the possibility of foreign study tours and cultural exchanges.
As a school, we remain focused on developing as many leadership opportunities as possible, including a thriving Duke of Edinburgh Award programme. All our students have a strong student voice through the Senate, our school council, and the various focus groups that run throughout the year. Always at Bedale, there is a strong focus on charity work and we continue to sponsor a school in Nambikki.
By the time a student leaves Bedale High School in Year 11, we aim for them to be a successful learner, a confident individual and a responsible citizen. Increasingly, post-16 providers comment on the quality of students progressing from Bedale. We are a partner school of Queen Elizabeth’s Sixth Form College in Darlington and provide a strong programme of support and guidance so that each student makes excellent choices for further study, either at QE or a more appropriate institution.
